About the book

The book is a living gallery: a collection of over 90 portraits that represent a study of Brücius’ clients, the creative process of developing a tattoo, and the meaning behind the artwork. Both Brücius and Elena share an interest in science and nature, and those themes come across strongly in the book. Elena has captured in her portraits the nature of Brücius’ clients and their choices. Elena is a highly recognized talent with a background in science and visual arts. Her imaginative work captures both the fantastic and the technical.

Brücius Xylander, one of San Francisco’s most sought-after blackwork tattoo artist, has teamed up with commercial photographer Elena Zhukova to release a book of stunning portraits this spring. Brücius has been named one of the Top 10 tattoo artists in the Bay Area. After spending 30 years as a classical fine artist, his unique, detailed style has earned him an international following. He specializes in blackwork and linework, with an acute understanding of the art of etching and prints.
